Although
Children's Duchenne affects more than 100,000
children in the United States alone, it is still
impossible to reliably detect this disease before
birth. It occurs as a result of irregularities in
the gentic code. Some of the time, the disease is
caused by these flaws in the DNA received from
the parents. But in an overwhelming number of the
cases, parents with NO family history of the
disease bear children who are afflicted. This
means that no family is safe from this child
